Pain Mouse Models

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines pain as "an unpleasant sensoryand emotional experience associated with or resembling that associated with actual or potentialtissue damage." Currently, commonly used pharmacological treatments for pain include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opioid analgesics, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants. These medications alleviate pain through different mechanisms, such as inhibiting inflammatory responses and modulating neurotransmitters. As our understanding of pain mechanisms deepens, more effective and safer new analgesics are being actively developed. Preclinical animal models play an indispensable role in this process. Based on the induction method, pain models can be categorized into chemotherapy-induced models, sciatic nerve injury (neuropathic pain) models, inflammatory pain models, etc.

GemPharmatech continuously improves and creates animal models that more closely mimic human pain conditions, providing powerful tools for simulating the pathophysiological processes of pain and for testing new drug developments and treatment strategies.
